Nature is my medicine (SOLD)
Original Pen & Ink Drawing 23 x 30 cm / 11.75 x 9"
When we spend time in nature it makes us feel good and it has a positive impact on our well-being. We have a biological need to connect with nature and this concept is known as biophilia. We each have our own unique way of making this connection. It can be anything from looking after indoor plants, feeding the birds in the garden , spending time gardening, foraging for wild food, making plant medicine, walking in green or blue spaces, sea–swimming, surfing, hiking in the wild or just sitting in a forest contemplating its surroundings. We know intuitively what works best for us. Being mindful when we are in nature increases the benefits we receive from it. Shifting our focus to natural surroundings can provide us with temporary relief from the chatter of our minds. We feel more calm, soothed and spacious within. In Japan, connecting with nature mindfully in a forest is known as forest-bathing or shinrin-yoku. This is a common practice and is known for its emotional, physical and mental benefits. Allowing ourselves a small piece of time and space to re-connect with nature can help us re-align with our natural rhythm and sense of self. It may help us develop a deeper appreciation for nature and open up to the healing elements that it has to offers us. As we do this we often find ways in which we can give back to nature out of appreciation for the abundance that she gives to us unconditionally.
