Let go and trust (2nd edition)
Nature often reminds us about our own cycles of creating and letting go. In Autumn we see the leaves falling from the trees after the abundant Summer. It occurs naturally and spontaneously. The trees don’t hold onto their leaves worrying that they might need them for next year. They let go and trust that new growth will return in Spring. These cycles in Nature can be mirrored in our own lives. Times of change can feel uncertain and disorientating. But unlike nature we often respond with resistance. We hold on. Our old and familiar ways are comfortable and safe but they no longer serve us as we have out-grown them. This is a time to let go. We do not know what lies ahead of us and so we find ourselves in the dark. We are faced with the difficult task of trusting the unknown. This is a time to trust and be patient and learn that as we release the old; new growth, new ideas and new ways can emerge – in the same way that new buds, new shoots and new life burst through in Nature with the returning light of Spring.

I drew this piece sitting under two different trees in the Autumn time in St. Anne's park. On the first day I sat under a huge old Holm Oak tree and on the second day I sat under a beech tree in the Autumn sun. I walk in this park quite often so I always pay a visit to these beautiful wise old trees.
