I started drawing this piece back in April 2021 at Bull Island nature reserve. In Ireland we had just come out of a very strict 5km lockdown since December 2020. I had found it difficult to draw or paint during this time as wandering freely in nature is very much part of my work. On the day that the restriction lifted I spent a few hours walking along the sea cliffs from the Martello Tower at Red Rock in Sutton out to Howth village and then back again – and it felt so good to be able to do this. At the time it felt like a celebration of how good it felt to be able to wander somewhere in nature again beyond the 5km restriction. But eventually a new title appeared after I started watching "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan and "star stuff" felt like the right title for it...
